South Bay Creative HQ sponsors or supports a variety of opportunities for local comedians (and aspiring comedians) to hone their craft:
Supportive Stand-Up Comedy Meet-Up
A weekly supportive open-mic conducted at a private residence in north Redondo Beach (Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30pm). Seating for up to 12 participants with their choice of 3-, 5-, or 7-minute sets and constructive critiques. Hot tea and cold beverages provided. $3 suggested donation per session or $10 per month. Requires RSVP.
Supportive Improv Comedy Meet-Up
A weekly supportive improv jam conducted at a private residence in north Redondo Beach (Thursdays, 7:00-8:30pm). Seating for up to 12 participants with a series of warm-ups, exercises and games to refresh and refine improv skills. Hot tea and cold beverages provided. $3 suggested donation per session or $10 per month. Requires RSVP.
Creative Screenwriters Workshop
Small groups focused on supportive critique of members’ screenplays (Sundays, 1:30-3:30pm). Conducted at a private residence and requires RSVP.
South Bay Screenwriters
“South Bay Screenwriters” is a separate meet-up (distinct from the South Bay Creative Writers Group) whose members share and provide feedback on each other’s screenplays. The format is similar to the Creative Screenwriters Workshop. Conducted at a private residence and requires a separate RSVP. [Writers are welcome to participate in either or both meet-up groups.]
